The Experimental Dermatology Unit (UDE) is actually part of the Universidade Lusófona’s Center for Health Science & Technologies Research – CBIOS, and has been launched in 2002 exclusively dedicated to skin (basic and applied) research. Nevertheless, UDE’s staff and competences are clearly multidisciplinary, mostly involving researchers from CBIOS and its Labs, with multiple development capacities expertise, from cutaneous physiology to cosmetics and skin delivery systems (check “Projects” ahead).
Several institutional related partnerships should be referred, specially involving clinical research such as – the Burns Unit from West Lisbon Hospitalary Centre, or the Internal Medicine Service from Fernando Fonseca Hospital, or the Imagiology Service from HPP. Other institutional partnerships involve various reference universities, national (Universidade de Lisboa, Universidade de Coimbra) and international (U Alcalá Henares and U Santiago de Compostela, Spain, U Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium, Uppsala University, Sweeden, U de Montreal, Canada, …)
UDE also cooperates with related industries, in particular with cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries (national and European) supporting product development, safety and efficacy assurance. Therefore, UDE is also a relevant innovation instrument to promote development and entrepreneurship. |
